Joel A. Kobert graduated from Norwich University, received a law degree from Howard University and was the Reginald Heber Smith Fellow at University of Pennsylvania. He was an attorney with the Justice Department, receiving the appointment to the Attorney General’s Honor program, He was commissioned in the Army at the rank of Captain and received the Bronze Star. He formed the law firm Courter & Kobert and was managing partner for 35 years, during which time he served in the administration of two Governors and was selected as General Counsel of the New Jersey Meadowlands. He was selected and served as President of the New Jersey Bar Association and is included in Who's Who in American Lawyers.
He has served on numerous Boards of financial institutions, health care facilities and charitable organizations, and spends considerable time working with veterans groups, as well as Elizabeth and Robert Dole with the Dole Foundation. Currently, he manages three horse farms and works with the eventing community, and has involvement in numerous equine events and activities.
