Dr. Lionel Reilly
Lionel has over 45 years of experience in animal health including executive leadership, operations, clinical veterinary practice, and business development.
Lionel has an animal health industry consulting firm, Reico. Since retiring in early 2009 he has been involved in new product development and M&A activities.
Prior to retirement he was founder and Chief Executive Officer of Professional Veterinary Products (PVPL) in Omaha, NE. During his 26 years of leading PVPL (animal health product distribution) the company grew to have consolidated sales approaching $500 million with nearly 400 employees. The company was the first animal health distributor to become SEC registered. For over a decade it received annual awards as one of the top 25 fastest growing companies in the Omaha area. In 2005 & 2006 PVPL won consecutive awards as one of the Top 25 Best Medium Sized Places to Work in America. Awards for integrity, ethical business practices, industry innovation and many others were received. In 2000 Lionel was an Ernest & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award finalist.
His first industry position was Director of Pharmaceutical Operations with Burns-Biotec Laboratories (acquired by Schering-Plough Animal Health) in Omaha, NE. The position had responsibilities for research, technical services and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
From 1972-1977 Lionel was a partner in a 6-veterinarian practice in Denver, CO. The practice was unique in that 3 satellite clinics were supported by a central hospital. He was the Post Veterinarian at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA from 1970-1972. Dr. Reilly received his DVM degree from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1970. He has Bachelor degrees from Kansas State University and Kansas Wesleyan University.
